Chapter 43: Jealousy

Dedicated to RolandSmith, thank you for the Ko-Fi.

Lu Qingzhuo eventually let down her hair, which had been neatly styled into a bun, covering the red bite marks on the back of her neck. She didn’t want anyone here to notice that something was off about her.

When the dishes arrived, one by one, Lu Qingzhuo had originally intended not to touch her chopsticks and avoid eating to express her rejection. However, when she looked up and saw Fu Yumian enjoying her meal so happily, Lu Qingzhuo finally caved in and picked up her chopsticks, abandoning all dignity.

It would be a waste not to eat. Wasting food is shameful. How could Fu Yumian possibly eat all of this by herself?

Lu Qingzhuo thought to herself as she felt justified in scooping a bowl of fresh bamboo shoots and old chicken soup. Slowly, she began to forget about the bite marks Fu Yumian had left on her neck just moments ago.

After finishing one bowl of soup, Lu Qingzhuo was surprised by the rich golden color and bright sheen of the chicken soup. It tasted unexpectedly delicious, so much so that she felt like making a pot of it herself.

She scooped another bowl. Fu Yumian sat across from her, briefly glancing up at her, a smile never leaving the corner of her mouth.

The two of them were focused on eating, not saying a word. Lu Qingzhuo didn’t have the habit of checking her phone while eating, but after finishing her third bowl of chicken soup, her WeChat notification bell suddenly rang.

Fu Yumian’s face betrayed no reaction, but inside, alarm bells went off. She picked up a piece of fish and took a bite.

Lu Qingzhuo unlocked her phone and took a quick glance before continuing to eat. From the expression on her face, it didn’t seem like it was anything important.

Fu Yumian casually asked, “Who messaged you?”

“It’s Teacher Ye.” Suddenly, a large chicken drumstick was placed into Lu Qingzhuo’s bowl by Fu Yumian. Lu Qingzhuo curved her lips into a small smile and proactively informed Fu Yumian, “She said she wants to treat me to a meal as an apology.”

Fu Yumian took a sip of soup and casually remarked, “Why didn’t you reply to her?”

“I need to think of a good way to reject her.”

Lu Qingzhuo closed her WeChat chat window, resting her chin on her hand in a distressed manner. After a while, unable to come up with a proper response, she reluctantly turned to Fu Yumian for help, her face showing frustration.

“President Fu, I don’t want to go. How should I reply?”

Fu Yumian seemed unconcerned. “She felt an immediate connection with you and wants to invite you to dinner to apologize. There’s nothing wrong with going.”

At this point, even if Lu Qingzhuo were the most oblivious person, she could clearly tell there was more to Fu Yumian’s words. She picked up her phone and typed for nearly a minute before sending the message.

Fu Yumian, keeping an eye on her out of the corner of her eye, couldn’t resist asking, “When did you two schedule it for?”

Lu Qingzhuo put down her phone and replied, “I rejected her. It’s better to maintain an appropriate distance between AOs.”

Fu Yumian paused, her hand still holding the chopsticks, seemingly letting out a sigh of relief. “The food’s cold. Hurry up and eat.”

After finishing the meal, Lu Qingzhuo felt as though her soul had been cleansed. She couldn’t believe how simple it was to preserve the original flavor of the ingredients while enhancing the taste so much.

Lu Qingzhuo went to the restroom and washed her hands by the sink. At some point, Fu Yumian had entered and now stood behind her, wrapping her in two soft arms.

This manor had many diners, and Lu Qingzhuo didn’t want anyone seeing the two of them stuck together, nor did she want others gossiping about them in the restroom.

Fu Yumian had always been sensitive about such matters, even setting a rule to keep their relationship private in public. But now, she seemed completely unconcerned.

Lu Qingzhuo hesitated and said, “President Fu, this place... isn’t very suitable.”

“It’s quite suitable,” Fu Yumian said, pulling Lu Qingzhuo toward the restroom stall. After surveying the inside, she coldly pulled her back out. “It’s too dirty. Let’s wait until we’re home.”

Though they hadn’t confirmed their relationship yet, Fu Yumian was already impatient. Perhaps she had become addicted to kissing.

Despite this, Lu Qingzhuo didn’t mind the kisses, even if they were always forceful. The feeling of kissing Fu Yumian wasn’t so bad—if only the other person weren’t so dominant.

Fu Yumian washed her hands again and, upon leaving, ran into Ye Ran, who had just finished eating. Lu Qingzhuo greeted her politely.

“Teacher Ye, what a coincidence. We meet again.”

“Indeed, Qingzhuo, what a coincidence,” Ye Ran said, her complexion radiant and her manner graceful. As a graduate of a dance academy, her every move exuded elegance. She nodded toward Fu Yumian, “President Fu.”

Ye Ran then turned to Lu Qingzhuo, sending her a location pin and smiling. “I opened a dessert shop. I often eat there myself. If you two like it, you should come by and try it.”

Lu Qingzhuo smiled and replied, “Thank you, Teacher Ye. We’ll definitely check it out.”

Ye Ran noticed the ring on Fu Yumian’s right hand and, without thinking, glanced at Lu Qingzhuo’s left hand, which was bare.

“Alright, I’ll head off now. Qingzhuo, see you later.”

After both parties got into their cars, Lu Qingzhuo opened her phone to look at the dessert shop’s location sent by Ye Ran, realizing that the shop she often ordered from was actually owned by Ye Ran.

On the drive back, Lu Qingzhuo was at the wheel. She casually placed her phone aside and said, “President Fu, I often order from the dessert shop Teacher Ye opened. The taste is quite good.”

Fu Yumian closed her eyes to rest and casually responded, “What’s so great about desserts? Too much sugar will give you a toothache.”

Hearing this, Lu Qingzhuo pressed her tongue against her cheek. Fu Yumian then opened her eyes and looked at her hand on the steering wheel, noticing something.

“Where’s your ring?”

“My ring?” Lu Qingzhuo glanced at her left hand in surprise. “How is it gone?”

Fu Yumian’s gaze hardened. “Do you not want to wear it anymore?”

“Swear to heaven!” Lu Qingzhuo nearly raised both hands to swear. “President Fu, I’ve never taken off this ring since I first wore it. There’s even a slight ring mark on my ring finger.”

She truly wanted to show her left hand to Fu Yumian, letting her see the clear ring mark.

Fu Yumian’s gaze lingered on her left ring finger for a moment before she turned away. “We’ll go buy a new one in a few days.”

---

A week before the variety show started filming, Lu Qingzhuo received an official invitation to organize the four regular guests to visit a scenic island in S City.

It was there that she ran into Ye Ran again, who was also part of the invited group.

When Lu Qingzhuo saw the guest list, she thought to herself that aside from Lin Zhiyu, she didn’t know the others very well. But unexpectedly, the show had added an extra guest, and the new addition was Ye Ran.

At first, there were only four regular guests. Besides Lu Qingzhuo and Lin Zhiyu, who were both alphas, Ye Ran and another young actress were omegas. There was also a well-known beta, a skilled actor.

Lu Qingzhuo and Lin Zhiyu sat together like good friends unexpectedly meeting at an important event, chatting endlessly to pass the time.

The door opened, and an omega wearing a pale yellow long dress entered fashionably late. Lu Qingzhuo recognized her as Ye Shutong, who was dressed up and greeting the cameras.

She lifted her skirt and walked over to them, smiling gently.

“Hello.”

Lu Qingzhuo stood and returned a polite smile.

When Ye Shutong sat down, Lin Zhiyu couldn’t help but notice the strong scent of sweet perfume surrounding her, and she instinctively moved closer to Lu Qingzhuo. Leaning in, she whispered in her ear, “Qingzhuo, why did you agree to join this variety show?”

What Lu Qingzhuo didn’t expect was that Ye Shutong had managed to squeeze out another omega’s spot. As expected, she was the shining gem that Jiahe Media had been pampering in recent years.

"I was just about to ask why you're here," Lu Qingzhuo said.

The three of them sat upright, with Ye Shutong constantly looking for the camera, smiling and waving her hand in greeting.

Lin Zhiyu subtly shifted her gaze and glanced over, a somewhat awkward smile appearing on her face. Then, Lu Qingzhuo pinched her thigh. “Under the camera, take it easy.”

Next came the Beta dressed in a long gown, looking very graceful and spirited. She had worked with Lu Qingzhuo in a drama a few years ago, but her main job was as an excellent host on a certain TV station. She was cheerful and had excellent speaking skills.

For this variety show, Lin Zhiyu had dyed her hair black again. When Lu Qingzhuo saw her with black hair, she couldn’t help but think that she should tell Geng Xingluo to not only watch out for the yellow-haired person but also properly judge the black-haired alpha.

The grand finale was naturally the film queen, Ye Ran. Her participation brought in a massive fanbase and hype, with many looking forward to the show because of her.

Ye Ran appeared in a slender, elegant qipao, her figure tall and graceful, every movement exuding elegance. The first thing she did was spot Lu Qingzhuo, who was sitting among the four, and raised her hand to greet everyone.

Since the two of them added each other on WeChat some time ago, Fu Yumian had been somewhat upset. She recently flew to London, and they hadn’t seen each other for several days. Even the ring Fu Yumian had promised her was nowhere to be found.

Ye Ran’s status was the highest among the five, so naturally, her seat was in the center, with Lu Qingzhuo sitting next to her.

“…”

If she had known earlier, she would have swapped seats with Lin Zhiyu.

Ye Shutong’s gaze was fixed on Ye Ran. They had worked together on a movie before, with Ye Shutong playing her maid.

“Teacher Ye, long time no see. You’re looking even more beautiful.”

Ye Ran glanced at Ye Shutong, smiling and nodding, before shifting her gaze to Lu Qingzhuo beside her.

The two seemed to have a close relationship, and Ye Ran’s mouth curled up slightly as she took the initiative to speak to Lu Qingzhuo. “Qingzhuo, it’s so good to see you again so soon. Zhiyu and I have worked together before.”

Ye Shutong’s smile gradually froze. She remembered that Ye Ran hadn’t worked with Lu Qingzhuo before. Why did they seem so familiar with each other?

Lin Zhiyu nodded. “Yes, Teacher Ye, but it’s such a shame that we only worked together that one time.”

Ye Ran smiled slightly. “There will be more opportunities in the future.”

Lu Qingzhuo suddenly felt like an introvert. She had signed up for an entire season of the show, split into five episodes, each with a month of filming.

She started to regret it. She had already made enough money, so why was she wasting her time filming “Dear Idol”? She might as well be facing Fu Yumian’s face every day.

The production team had rented a villa on the riverside, and as they arrived on the island by boat, Lu Qingzhuo’s gaze became more and more puzzled.

This place seemed familiar—it was the villas near the river that Fu Yumian had put in her name as an apology after biting her a while ago, to make up for it.

She had circled back to her own home, and Lu Qingzhuo couldn’t help but laugh. She just hoped she wouldn’t run into Fu Yumian when she walked in.

The other four were drawn in by Lu Qingzhuo’s laughter. Lin Zhiyu leaned in and asked, “What’s so funny? It’s not like you’re back at your own place.”

After getting on the island, the director and the crew followed suit. The director grabbed a loudspeaker and introduced the living arrangements.

The director was casual, and so was the variety show. In fact, Lu Qingzhuo hadn’t even seen the detailed script; she didn’t know exactly what they were supposed to do. It was probably a show where they could freestyle.

The script for this season was still in Lu Qingzhuo’s inbox, but as far as she knew, it was a horror-themed episode, something like a haunted house adventure mixed with an escape room-type game.

The villa had five floors, with an elevator, gym, and an outdoor swimming pool. Even the wealthy second-generation Lin Zhiyu couldn’t help but say, “I wish my mom would buy me one of these.”

Lu Qingzhuo picked a room on the southwest side.

The view was good and would provide a perfect view of the river.

Both of their rooms were on the third floor, and Lin Zhiyu was next door, playing the role of a good neighbor.

After choosing her room, Lu Qingzhuo stretched her sore shoulders and arms. Her right shoulder especially ached from always being used as a pillow by Fu Yumian, who slept on her arm every night without ever moving away.

Sometimes, when she woke up from a nightmare in the middle of the night, she’d open her eyes to see Fu Yumian’s head buried in her chest, making it hard for her to breathe.

So this was how clingy Fu Yumian could be—she was like this even before the heat period.

Sometimes Fu Yumian called her a little cat, but Lu Qingzhuo thought Fu Yumian was the real clingy cat.

After circling the room a bit, Lu Qingzhuo walked out and saw Ye Ran, who was supposed to be on the second floor, walking up while chatting with Lin Zhiyu.

Lin Zhiyu’s expression seemed a bit serious. “Sister Ran, Qingzhuo and I have always been like this since we were kids. When she’s not around, it’s like a fish out of water…”

The sentence was abruptly cut off. Lu Qingzhuo leaned casually against the doorframe, looking at the two of them with a confused expression. “What did you just say?”

Lin Zhiyu immediately continued, “Qingzhuo, Sister Ran said she wants to switch rooms with me, so I’ll go to the big bedroom on the south side of the second floor. But I only want to stay with you.”

A chill ran down Lu Qingzhuo’s spine, and goosebumps appeared on her arms. She saw Lin Zhiyu frantically blinking behind Ye Ran and decided to play along with her.

"Yes, Sister Ran, Zhiyu had this problem when she was a child. She could only fall asleep if she was next to me."

Ye Ran paused for a rare moment. "Could it be a mental health issue? Has she seen a doctor?"

Lin Zhiyu, her eyes wide, made something up. "The doctor said it’s psychological trauma, and she needs to be with someone close to her to feel safe."

Ye Ran smiled. "I see. You should definitely take care of yourself then."

The two of them watched Ye Ran go downstairs. Lin Zhiyu pulled Lu Qingzhuo into the room, closed the door, and quietly said, "What's up with Sister Ran? She wants to switch rooms and insists on staying next to you. Could it be that she..."

"Spreading rumors is shameful, you know. I’m married now," Lu Qingzhuo waved her left hand, but her ring finger was bare. She belatedly realized she wasn’t wearing the ring and quickly pulled her hand back. "Anyway, we're just normal friends. I didn’t expect her to be a guest on this season's variety show."

"If it’s not just a coincidence, I really think she’s interested in you," Lin Zhiyu whispered in Lu Qingzhuo’s ear. "You know, when Ye Ran made her appearance today, everyone was looking at her, but I noticed her eyes were only on you."

Lu Qingzhuo did indeed lock eyes with Ye Ran for a long time, but at first, she simply thought it was just a greeting.

"Really? I’m not playing the charming lead in some drama. Even if they want to stir up some CP, it’s impossible. Who in their right mind would want to do that with me?"

Lin Zhiyu scratched her head. "Well, that’s true. I don’t mean to say anything bad about you, but if I were an omega, I’d definitely want to make a CP with you!"

The two sat on the bed, racking their brains, trying to figure out Ye Ran’s intentions. Lu Qingzhuo didn’t think she had anything to offer in terms of experience or acting skills that would make Ye Ran interested.

Lin Zhiyu was emotionally clueless, with no other strengths besides her sharp tongue. Lu Qingzhuo, on the other hand, was just as sharp-tongued. Although she hadn’t officially confirmed her relationship with Fu Yumian, they were already involved. Still, she couldn’t guess Ye Ran’s motives.

It was probably because Ye Ran had noticed how close she had become with Fu Yumian recently and was most likely interested in Fu Yumian.

---

Next week, the variety show would begin recording officially. Lu Qingzhuo returned to B City and visited Geng Xingluo at school. After giving her some instructions, she also shared the password for the villa.

Ever since her ring disappeared from her left ring finger, Lu Qingzhuo still unconsciously kept rubbing the ring finger with her thumb.

She couldn’t remember when she lost the ring, but it had vanished after she went to the manor and had Cantonese food that day, and she didn’t even realize it at the time.

Lu Qingzhuo had a special attachment to her things; she never easily discarded anything, even something as simple as a water cup or phone case. And this ring, which held special meaning, was even more significant.

She began searching carefully in the bedroom, half-kneeling on the floor, looking under the bed. At that moment, Ye Ye and Oreo wandered in.

Oreo’s leg had mostly healed, and she could run and jump again. As a purebred cow cat, Oreo had a mind of her own, whether it was running, jumping, eating, or playing games—her limbs and tail all had their own ideas.

Perhaps it was a common trait for black-and-white animals, but Oreo was a nervous little cat, often running sideways at Lu Qingzhuo before showcasing her impressive jumping skills. She would explode in mid-air with all four limbs, almost scratching Lu Qingzhuo in the process.

Lu Qingzhuo, still half-kneeling on the floor, felt Oreo nimbly leap onto her back, and the cat tried to stand on her head, stepping on her shoulders.

"Stop it, Oreo. Mommy’s looking for the ring. If you two can’t help, just go play outside."

Ye Ye barked a few times at Oreo, who was standing steadily on top of Lu Qingzhuo’s head, then nudged Lu Qingzhuo’s pants with her nose and bit down, not letting go.

"Ye Ye, stop. I’m looking for the ring your mom gave me," Lu Qingzhuo absentmindedly scratched the dog’s head, when suddenly she remembered something important. She quickly pulled Ye Ye’s mouth open. "Wait, could it be that one of you two swallowed my ring?"

She opened the dog’s mouth and found it was quite clean, with a strong smell of puppy coming from it.

She immediately took both the dog and the cat and drove them to Fu Yumian’s private hospital, where she asked her doctor friend to give the two of them an X-ray.

Fu Yumian’s doctor friend, Qin Zhen, immediately started with her usual phrase. "What’s wrong now?"

Qin Zhen nearly sat down on the floor because of Ye Ye’s energetic nuzzling but rubbed the little dog’s head while helplessly saying, "What now? Why are you here alone today? Where’s Fu Yumian?"

Lu Qingzhuo pointed at Ye Ye and said, "I think it secretly swallowed my ring. Doctor Qin, could you check if it’s in its stomach?"

Qin Zhen scratched the dog’s ears without looking up. "Turn right and walk two kilometers. There’s a pet hospital nearby."

"Your equipment is top-notch, both domestically and internationally, and President Fu can reimburse me at any time."

Qin Zhen finally looked up with a flat tone. "You just don’t want to spend money, right?"

Lu Qingzhuo shrugged. "You could say that."

Qin Zhen: "..."

Qin Zhen gave up. How could Fu Yumian marry such a money-conscious alpha? But since it was Fu Yumian, taking a few more detours and enduring some hardship in love wouldn’t be the worst thing.

As expected, when the X-ray results came out, Lu Qingzhuo started planning to give the dog a stomach wash.

Sure enough, the greedy dog had swallowed the ring. Lu Qingzhuo couldn’t understand how the dog managed to eat a whole ring.

The doors of her room had been left open, and Ye Ye and Oreo loved to run around. It was probably when they ran into her room and found the ring on the floor or the bed that they ate it.

After the stomach wash, she brought a tired, drooping Ye Ye home. When they reached the garage, she patted Ye Ye’s head to get her out of the car, but the dog was lying motionless on the backseat, all four paws up.

---

When Fu Yumian finished her meeting and returned to the country, she stood at the door waiting for Lu Qingzhuo to come back, and what she saw was this scene.

Lu Qingzhuo had a cat standing steadily on her head, and the large Samoyed, Ye Ye, was carried on her back, its tongue sticking out with a proud little expression. It was hard to tell that it had just had its stomach washed.

"President Fu."

Lu Qingzhuo took a breath, placing Ye Ye at the door, then smiled and showed her left hand, where the ring on her fourth finger glistened—the one she had just gotten back.

The moment Ye Ye's paws hit the ground, it leapt up like a missile, leaving Lu Qingzhuo stunned.

"...It was just pretending to be uncomfortable! It just wanted me to carry it home!"

Fu Yumian hugged Lu Qingzhuo’s waist from behind, gently rubbing her sweaty forehead while laughing. "It's been like this for quite a while now. It looks harmless, but in reality, it's sneaky and clever. Even I’ve been tricked by it several times."

They hadn’t seen each other for two days. During those days, the thing Fu Yumian did the most was take out her phone, open a hidden app, and watch all of Lu Qingzhuo’s actions.

She didn’t want Lu Qingzhuo out of her sight, and she didn’t want any alpha or omega getting close to her.

Sometimes, Fu Yumian really wished Lu Qingzhuo could turn into a cat. That way, she could carry her around everywhere, create a delicate golden cage, and keep her hidden inside, where only she could touch and see her.

Fu Yumian rubbed the back of Lu Qingzhuo’s head impatiently before kissing her lips, a small motion she always made before kissing.

"President Fu, you're too eager... Hmm, let me drink some water."

She hadn’t drunk much water that afternoon and was feeling dry and uncomfortable. With Fu Yumian’s soft tongue inside her mouth, she had no choice but to obediently open her lips.

Fu Yumian couldn’t stop touching and kissing her. Her palm rested on Lu Qingzhuo’s chest, and as she moved closer, she suddenly smelled a faint scent of camellia. She stopped kissing immediately.

Lu Qingzhuo’s eyes sparkled with moisture. Her lips were slightly parted, and she was completely lost in the kiss. But Fu Yumian suddenly pulled back, leaving her stunned.

"Hmm?" Lu Qingzhuo’s voice was heavy with confusion. "What’s wrong, President Fu?"

Fu Yumian’s expression was serious, as if Lu Qingzhuo had done something to upset her.

"Did you meet with Ye Ran?"

"You mean Sister Ran? I bumped into her while shopping for groceries today." Lu Qingzhuo looked somewhat confused. "She said she lived nearby, and since I didn’t drive, I just came back with her."

Fu Yumian grabbed Lu Qingzhuo’s wrist and sniffed it. The omega pheromones here were stronger than on her body.

"You came back in her car?"

Lu Qingzhuo nodded. Seeing Fu Yumian’s increasingly serious expression, she felt a chill run down her back but still answered truthfully. "Yeah, she gave me a ride. I was too lazy to walk, so I just came back with her."

Fu Yumian furrowed her brows, staring at her hand that had a faint camellia scent on it. "Why do you smell so much like omega pheromones?"

"President Fu?" Lu Qingzhuo swallowed nervously, stunned by Fu Yumian’s sudden, intense reaction. "We just chatted for a bit. We didn’t do anything…"

Fu Yumian gripped Lu Qingzhuo’s hand and pushed her into the bathroom, almost wanting to strip her completely and wash away that unpleasant camellia scent with shower gel.

"Clean yourself up." Fu Yumian unbuttoned Lu Qingzhuo’s shirt, quickly removing her clothes and pants, then adjusted the shower to a suitable temperature. "Don’t let me smell camellia anymore."

Lu Qingzhuo didn’t expect Fu Yumian to be so inexplicably irritable. The moment their eyes met, she felt a chill run down her back.

Fu Yumian had never looked at her like that before, and it was the first time Lu Qingzhuo had seen such a look. She had just chatted with a familiar friend while shopping and had no idea what had triggered Fu Yumian’s temper.

"President Fu, I can do it myself." She didn’t want Fu Yumian to watch her shower, covering her chest with both hands, her cheeks slightly flushed. "Please, go out. I can wash by myself."

After Fu Yumian left, Lu Qingzhuo lay in the bathtub, staring at the ring on her left hand. Her mind flashed back to Fu Yumian’s possessive and terrifying gaze. Hugging her knees, she trembled.

Was Fu Yumian suffering from some psychological issue?

Lu Qingzhuo sniffed her wrist but didn’t detect any unusual scent.

Fu Yumian had said her omega pheromones were strong, probably because she had stepped on a banana peel while grocery shopping and almost slipped. Ye Ran had quickly grabbed her wrist to prevent her from falling.

In the living room, Fu Yumian opened the app, looking at Lu Qingzhuo, who was showering. Her gaze lingered on the slender waist and the white, perky bottom for a long time.

After Lu Qingzhuo rinsed off the foam, she applied a layer of white peach oolong-scented shower gel, making Fu Yumian’s breath unsteady.

At first, she was angry, but now, she wanted to do something else.

Lu Qingzhuo’s WeChat ringtone went off, and Fu Yumian glanced at it, seeing "Ye Ran" in the notification.

She grabbed Lu Qingzhuo’s phone. Unable to unlock it with facial recognition, she entered the password instead.

Fu Yumian’s fingers pressed the six-digit code without hesitation, unlocking the phone and heading straight for the WeChat chat interface with Ye Ran.

There wasn’t much to talk about between them, and Lu Qingzhuo’s replies were polite. Fu Yumian scrolled through all of it, letting out a sigh of relief.

However, when she saw the latest message from Ye Ran, she couldn’t help but furrow her brows.

Ye Ran: [Come over to my house for dinner sometime.]

This message was strikingly obvious, and Fu Yumian's face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot. She couldn't help but clench her fists.

The well-mannered self she had cultivated over the past thirty years almost collapsed in that moment. Fu Yumian forced a deep smile at the corner of her mouth and began typing a response.

Lu Qingzhuo: [Not going.]

Lu Qingzhuo: [I'm married. I have a wife.]

She then placed her phone down again. After almost ten minutes without a reply, Fu Yumian picked up her phone once more and deleted the two messages between her and Ye Ran.

She almost wanted to block and delete Ye Ran completely.

Lu Qingzhuo thoroughly cleaned every corner of her body—front, back, top, and bottom—scrubbing with body wash three times. Only after making sure there was no trace of any other scent left did she stand up from the water.

Wrapping herself in a towel and drying her hair, Lu Qingzhuo walked barefoot across the carpet, put on her shoes, and headed to the living room to grab her phone. As she entered the living room, she saw Fu Yumian sitting on the couch, arms crossed, staring at her.

The phone's position seemed to be different from before. Lu Qingzhuo didn't think much of it and casually glanced at her phone. Aside from a message from Lin Zhiyu, there was nothing else.

Seeing Fu Yumian sitting there, focused on the computer, Lu Qingzhuo wasn't in the mood to play on her phone. She simply moved closer, linked her arm with Fu Yumian's, and rested her chin on her shoulder, like a soft, fragrant white cat.

The cat nuzzled its head against its owner's wrist and arm, its pink paw pads lightly brushing against her skin, teasing her heart.

"President Fu, what are you looking at?"

A sweet fragrance of white peach oolong filled the air, and the soft, warm arm that touched Fu Yumian made her want to devour this delicious little cake immediately.

Fu Yumian wrapped her arm around Lu Qingzhuo's neck, leaning back as her finger effortlessly flicked away the towel covering Lu Qingzhuo's body, urging, "Enough talk, let's do it on the sofa today."
